About our friends and partner-project Migrobirdo

“Let’s be realistic - everything is possible”

That`s a part of Migrobirdo’s philosophy.

I’m quite sure, that this is a true sentence, although sometimes things happen which you never thought were possible.

For me personally this happened now. I`m shocked, wordless in a very silent way.

Of course you always kind of have to consider these things, but at least I never really did.

All I want to say is that I am sad on one hand that those six beautiful persons with all the power and the great visions they had, probably found their death while working on making this world a better place.

It’s hard to accept how things went - this planet lost some most lovely, powerful activists, humans.

On the other hand I am so happy having met these people, they gave inspiring input in my life, and I am glad they did all that great stuff they already did – I am sure they left traces of hope, inspiration and love all along their way.

Facts about what happened:

I can’t tell more than I heard in media, which is following:

Tuesday, in the night to Wednesday, the Migrobirdo-boat was on its way to Rabat, when it came into a great storm with waves of over five meters height. Presumably they now thought it was impossible to reach it any longer, so they tried to land in Mahdia’s harbor. Whereas there, the waves were even over eight meters high. It’s said that even in good weather conditions it is difficult to land in this harbor. Well, the “Taube” capsized. So far there’s only one German girl found who survived, the other six crew members (three people from Germany, one from Austria, one from Denmark and one from Slovenia) are supposed to have drowned, as nothing –no ship and no humans- were found in the last two days of rescue attempts (by helicopter, boat, track hounds…).
