long ime ago since this blog worked as it should…

We, this is Sam and me together with Carlos from Malaga, are now in the Centro de Convergencia in Aldeia das Amoreiras, a very (!!) small village far far off from everything in Portugal. http://centrodeconvergencia.wordpress.com/about/

The centro social is a subproject of gaia, an environmental association and our partner project in portugal that also helped us with the European Union fundraising apply.

This place  and the people are amazing, the nature around is great… lots of old people in the village, who are just sitting around outside and chatting all day… seems many young people leave as there is no jobs.

the next “big” town is Santana de Serra, where in the only shop we found they sell a bit of food and also seeds for planting your own…

The centro social has computers (running on linux) and internet, a bibliotheka and a garden and activities in the centro social are varied… arts and exhibitions, cinema, gardening, environmental actions and campaigns…cultural events trying to integrate the local people and other …

just now somebody is talking about fundraising…

the team that consists of people from the area, gaia people from portugal and volunteers from all over just had a meeting, talking about the program for juni and some other organisational tasks…

the atmosphere is very relaxed and it seems to be a place without bigger serious fights within the team, which is great!

the organisation, gaia, seems to be what would come out if the “jukss” -people in germany would found a big environmental association, environmentalist, but also very political.

We will soon have an exchange with them about gaia and tsolife and skillsurfers, spend some days here and then go to Porto in a few days to meet some other gaia - people there.

one woman will also try to get us in touch with some people of tamera, which is very close to here.
